ForgeSource Sourcing Notes on Building Comparisons

These notes help a buyer turn a brand-led search into specification, scope, and document questions. They are not product reviews of a named manufacturer, and they do not report prices.

Read a note before you send a brief if the open question is how to compare replies, not which catalog row to click. Each note keeps ForgeSource Sourcing on the buyer side of the table: the desk can organize questions, and the buyer still accepts or rejects an alternative.

A useful comparison starts with occupancy. A site office, a dry store, a welfare block, and a classroom do not share one exit path, one thermal transmittance target, or one fire-resistance rating. Write the use in the first line of the brief so a later price cannot drift into a different building.

Geometry comes next. Record external module dimensions and the clear interior, and add the transport envelope if the unit will move by road. If a folding format is in view, keep the collapsed size and the open size as two lines. A single photo does not replace those numbers.

Loads belong to the project, not to a sample city printed on a brochure. Copy design live load, design dead load, wind speed, wind exposure category, ground snow load, and seismic design category when the structural reviewer has them. If a value is missing, write “unknown” rather than borrowing a figure from another site.

Scope labels stop false rankings. Shell, delivered, installed, and turnkey answers stay in separate columns until exclusions match. Freight, taxes, foundation interface, utilities, and the crane lift plan are lines of their own. A lower unit figure that omits setting is not a better building.

Documents are requested for the quoted system only. Ask which drawing, calculation, or material note covers that system, that plant, and that jurisdiction. A general reference to IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, or AWS D1.1 is a prompt to ask for the file, not evidence already on this desk. HUD Code and state modular paths are recorded only when the project is actually in that regime.

The notes below are prepared articles for that kind of check. They do not rank suppliers, and they do not publish a savings figure. When the question in the note matches your project, continue to the building options or the inquiry desk with the numbers filled in.
